mvworks:past events 2012 I'm Nobody! Who Are You? (2011) Maya Ciarrocchi Feb - May, 2012 Opening Reception Feb 2, 6pm New York Live Arts Originally presented at The Chocolate Factory, I'm Nobody! Who Are You? will be reconceived for the New York Live Arts Ford Foundation Live Gallery Wall. The installation is comprised of a series of life-sized video portraits of subjects who make up the fabric of New York Live Arts, including mvworks Artistic Director, Megan V. Sprenger. The portraits frame visible shifts in emotional response as the subject reacts over time for an imagined viewer through the lens of the objective, ever present, camera. For the viewer, the tension of watching and being watched only subsides when he or she allows for a state of suspension away from place, time, and narrative. The title of the work, adopted from an Emily Dickinson poem of the same name, is a question about identity and whether or not a mediated image can adequately reflect a subject's reality. more info 2011 The Dancer's Voice: Personalizing the Marketing Experience Mon, Nov 14, 2011, 5:30pm - 7:00pm Joyce SoHo Artist Director Megan V. Each participating artist receives six hours of rehearsal time at Studio 5-2, during which to create a solo performance specifically for the internet. Each web-based solo will premiere online and remain available in a web-based catalogue for performance-viewing at any time. This chain of archived presentations will be augmented by a blog, moderated by Sarah Maxfield, through which participating artists can discuss their experiences with the project, as well as their artistic work in general.
